Six Days in Mexico: Part 2

Picking up where we left off on day 4.  I have absolutely zero pictures of the 4th day before dinner, but like most days- we had breakfast, went snorkeling (and had our first sea turtle encounter!), played water volleyball, had a few drinks, ate lunch, swam in the pool, rested and got ready for dinner.  This night we made it a point to go to the little outdoor bar Wes and I had found for drinks before dinner- the ambiance was spectacular.

We just love these guys :).

That night we ate at the Spanish restaurant and Wes hit his order out of the park- he had the most delicious mussels followed by lobster risotto.  I liked his so much (compared to my sea bass that they just brought me one of my own :)).

I remembered to take a lot of pictures on our fifth day, because it was our last full day together (and the last day that we would see Kelli and Cecil!).  We had received a tip the day before that the sea turtles looooved bananas, so at breakfast we loaded up on them and took them out with us when we went snorkeling.  Wes was in charge of our waterproof disposable camera and we haven't developed those pictures yet, but I was in charge of Wes's iPhone and taking video.  I couldn't see a thing I was doing (just pushing buttons blindly), but I turned out with one fantastic video.

Sea turtle high. Seriously, it was one of the cooooolest experiences ever.

The beach as a whole is not rocky, but the area that the sea turtles are in has a few rocks leading out to the water.  If you are heading to the Barcelo (in the Riviera Maya), you want to check out this section of the beach for sea turtles.

Just gorgeous. And I think this is why I am officially obsessed with beach prints.

After swimming with the turtles, we retreated to the pool because that is our favorite thing to do (duh!) and Wes took this picture- one of our favorite parts of Mexico is meeting all of the other couples/groups traveling; lets just say there is a lot of pool camaraderie ;).

Love this girl!

Especially love this guy!

Every afternoon around 4 a storm would appear to roll in- we really looked forward to this because it never actually rained, but it always provided much need relief from the sun beating down on us.

We were all pretty excited to play bingo that night! Everyone in our group won except for me (I am not bitter, I promise ;)).

Group shot before our last dinner together- back at the hibachi restaurant!  That night we had a great last dinner and a final drink at the bar before heading back to our rooms around midnight (we were rebels staying up to midnight on this trip ;)) after saying bye to Kelli and Cecil.

And that brings us to our final morning- Kelli and Cecil left at 7 that morning so we didn't see them; however, we had until about one before our transportation picked us up.  We took a long walk around the resort enjoying one last lingering breakfast.

How we spent the entire week- in flip flops, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Freshly cleaned beach.

As we were walking back to our pool, we couldn't help but stop at our wedding spot where we begged a stranger to take our picture! and just reminisce how perfectly 'us' our wedding was.

And how many things have changed and how many things have stayed the same in the last five years- but above everything, we always choose to love each other.

And then we wandered back to the pool for one last morning swim soaking in the final moments of our alone time.

And before we knew it was time to come back and snuggle the heck out of our little ones.

We got super lucky and had the whole row to ourselves on the way back.

And even got to see the sunset as we flew back into DFW.

To sum up these last two posts- we are incredibly thankful and grateful for our six days in Mexico (we couldn't have done it without two sets of grandparents + Austin and Craig watching our two little crazy people).  Mexico will always have part of our hearts.
