London, Part One

London was one of our favorite places we have ever travelled!  Seriously, we loved everything about this city - we will definitely go back here and explore more :). Here is a look at our four days in London.

Borough Market. Seriously delish. So many food stalls, it was hard to narrow down, but we settled on doughnuts from Bread Ahead (highly recommend) and a sausage sandwich (also highly recommend). So fun to just browse around :). Sorry in advance, I didn't realize my camera was on manual mode until halfway through (so the pictures are extra blurry :)).

Tate Modern. From Borough Marker, we walked to the Tate Modern (it was quite the walk!). On our way there, Everly asked us what we were doing and I said we are going on a walking tour (I had printed out a walking tour with directions from a blog beforehand). Without missing a beat, she says "well, where's the rest of our tour group?" I burst out laughing - as I type this, maybe it was one of those things where you had to be there, but nonetheless, I thought it was hysterical.

Hands down my favorite museum from the whole trip. The girls loved the interactive section. It was free, it was fun - we highly recommend!

Don't worry, she didn't actually touch - the picture just makes it look that way.

The pink cube was my favorite!

The girls looooved this swing outside - it was the perfect way to end our visit to the Tate Modern.

London had charming little nooks every which way you looked.

Tate Modern from the other side.

Loved the red, yellow, green doors!

We walked across this bridge - so many cool bridges in London!

The girls adored playing with this bubble maker outside the Tate Modern.

Walking across the bridge.

The Shard.

St. Paul's Cathedral.

Regent's Park. After a McDonald's lunch for our chicken nugget loving girl (who will remain unnamed ;)) on the steps of Saint Paul Cathedral - our option was to go in or head to a park. We figured that the girls needed to get some energy out and a park was a better option. On our way there we had an unfortunate incident. Emma had gotten into the subway and the doors were closing - Wes put the stroller in between the doors so they wouldn't close with her being the only one of us inside and the stroller snapped in half. RIP red stroller.

A few minutes later as Wes was carrying Emma, she said, "this is just like riding in a stroller!". I am not sure that Wes shared the same sentiment ;).

Regent's Park map :). These parks are ginormous.

My favorite part was Queen Mary's rose garden - there were so many roses and the names were all delightfully funny.

A few peonies mixed in there too!

Those blue skies!

Stunning.

Goofballs :).

We hunted and finally found the playground and it did not disappoint!

The girls are still obsessed with swings - maybe because we don't have them here in China?

Neals Yard. That night we caught the metro over to the Seven Dials area to have dinner at Neals Yard. The place was colorful, vibrant and full of life.

Look how gigantic that pizza was!!

Such a fun area!

Buckingham Palace. Our apartment was a quick 7 - 10 minute walk to Buckingham Palace. We decided to beat the crowds and head over there bright and early on the 2nd morning. Not going to lie, the Palace is much smaller than I thought it would be, but still so fun to know how many Royal things happen here!!

The gardens right outside were meticulous and well used by commuters :).

Westminster Abby. We had tickets to go in on Saturday, so we just stopped by for a quick peek.

Big Ben. Ahhhh, we were a little bummed out about this! Big Ben was covered in scaffolding. Guess we will just have to go back again ;).

London Eye. After checking out the price, we just decided to admire this from afar ;).

Another awesome bridge!

National Gallery.  We walked to the National Gallery (if I only had time for Tate Modern or National Gallery - I would definitely choose the Tate Modern), but the National Gallery is also free to enter and worth a look if you are in the area.

Red Phone Booth! We found one! and like every tourist, we could not help ourselves and took too many pictures :).

Ahhhh, London - we adored you! Can't wait to share part two with you :).
