We were sleepy and pretty worn out by day three in Tokyo - traveling with littles plus two full days of Disney will do that to you. This particular day, we decided to 'sleep in' (I think Ev's woke us up no later than 6:30); however, we did take our time getting ready before heading out for the day.
^ Wes went down to the hotel lobby and picked us up a coffee for the day - the other mornings we had left the hotel room before the coffee shop opened, so this seemed like a real treat. ^
^ our first stop was Tokyo Tower ^
^ I had seen it from my double decker bus tour the last time I was in Japan, but had never seen it up close! ^
^ on the way there, we successfully navigated the Tokyo rail system (there is not just one metro line - there are several and they all operate independently which means when you need to make a connection, you need another ticket, etc.) and while we slightly overpaid because it took us a few tries to figure it out, we felt confident in our metro skills by the end of the day. ^
^ it was about a 15 minute walk from the subway station to the tower and we enjoyed the brisk air, blue skies and sunshine!! ^

^ the Tokyo Tower was modeled after the Eiffel Tower ^
^ we have plans to go to Paris on the way home from our assignment so this got us pretty excited!! ^
^ we went up about 150 meters (the second observatory deck that was a little bit higher was closed for renovations ^
^ the views from the top were stunning and articulately showed just how vast Tokyo is ^
^ that tall building on the right is the district where we were headed next so we were excited to see it from up top ^

^ on the left is Tokyo Skytree which was built to compete with Tokyo Tower ^
^ I loved these little signs that would help orient what we were looking at ^
^ rainbow bridge that connects where we were staying (out by Disney) to central Tokyo ^
^ after wondering around for a little bit, we went down one level and we were able to peek out these holes in the ground - definitely this was the girls favorite part ^

^ one last look at Tokyo Tower before heading back to the subway off to find Rappongi Hills in search of lunch and holding hedgehogs!!! ^
