Our 11th week in China included a holiday! On Thursday, we 'celebrated' Dragon Boat Festival, but unfortunately it rained the whole day :(; the highlight was definitely the bar-b-que ribs that Wes made us for dinner! Luckily we had a pretty good weekend last weekend that tided us over! We are hoping for sunshine this weekend because of neighborhood pool just opened up!!
Last week, we swapped our car day for Sunday (versus Saturday), so on Saturday, we woke up and headed to the playground. Scooters included - definitely one of the girls favorites. Since it is a good 15 - 20 minute walk to the playground, we don't let them ride their scooters every time- so it was quite the treat for them :).
Ev's favorite - picking out her own outfit (too small romper and boots included ;)).
That afternoon the girls and I took a 3 hour nap- glorious!!!! And definitely a favorite! Then we headed out to grab some dinner in our neighborhood and we ran into Emma's besties family :). We really like moments like this since it makes it feel more like a community where we live! We had dinner with them and it was so much fun! After dinner, we offered to take their daughter to the playground with us while they met up with some people. We thought we got plenty of looks before, but this was crazy! 3 - 4 people stopped me to ask me if these were all our children (mainly by pointing and then holding up three fingers!). The girls had the best time playing on the playground that evening- we stayed out way too late!
I also love this spotting this in China - they are called the dancing aunties and you will oftentimes see large group of mainly women gathered around to dance for a bit :).
On Sunday morning, our first stop was Starbucks! The girls have gotten quite accustomed to getting a muffin while Wes and I get our caffeine fix :). Definitely a family favorite place - Ev's can even recognize them now (insert blush face emoji :)).
Another favorite- we serendipitously drove by this I heart Chengdu sign! We can't wait to come back and get a family picture here one day :).
Our big stop on Sunday was at the Chengdu irrigation project - there will be more to come on this, but Chengdu was very inventive for their time and they have a dam made out of bamboo. The entire place was pretty spectacular. Family selfies are definitely my favorite :).
So are selfies with this girl :)...
and this guy :). We got to see the mountains!!
Another favorite - that these daughters of mine have absolutely no fear crossing bridges with water underneath! There were some people that would hold their breath the whole way across (not sure what this was for), but not my girls. The height or running water did not bother them one bit :).
The girls favorite part of the whole day though- on our walk back to the entrance, we let the girls play in these waters fountains for a solid half hour. They were delighted (and soaking wet ;)). More pictures to come in the following weeks!
One of my favorite parts of the day- stopping at our favorite pizza place on the way back. I got a new to me pizza- garlic, spinach, mushrooms and blue cheese and it was out of this world delicious. So so yummy! These girls were also acting ridiculously cute even though they had skipped their nap :).
Going to our local playground is definitely our favorite and so is her mischievous smile after she grabbed some flowers she was not supposed to grab.
As is her 'no more pictures mom' comment :).
We are planning on a very low key weekend this weekend! Hope you have a great weekend :).

I love this post! Looks like a great week! I love the family selfie - Emma just looks so much like Wes here, more than I remember!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think Everly looks like Ally a little with her mischievous grin.
