Shanghai is unlike Beijing in that there are not a ton of historical sites to visit so when planning our trip to Shanghai, we wanted to pick things that the girls would love to do because we knew that Beijing was mostly for us and they would be along for the tour. That being said, we had settled on Shanghai Disney, the Shanghai Wildlife Animal Park and the Bund. The Bund didn't end up working out because of my work schedule, but there is always next time :). On our second morning in Shanghai, we went a little slower, enjoyed breakfast a little longer and when we were packed up and ready - grabbed a cab and headed to the Shanghai Wildlife Animal Park. We have been to the Chengdu Wildlife Animal Park and the Shanghai park is 100 times better - because it is flat! The Chengdu park is on the side of a mountain so we were constantly carrying two kiddos and two strollers up and down steps all day! Which is nothing short of exhausting. I had high hopes that we would be able to hold a baby tiger, but other than that - we really had zero expectations. And we had so much fun!!

Wes loved this waterfall - he would definitely put one in our house if he could!
First up, the prairie dogs - Evsie's was obsessed with them!
And then the Lemur's! The whole experience was very interactive and there were tons of animals everywhere you looked - in this case, tons of Lemur's everywhere you looked!
Tiger cubs! At first, I was like 'oh, no - how are we going to hold those things, they must be pretty tame - will they really let my three year old hold a tiger cub? How is that possibly safe?' :).

And then I saw these wee little tiger's, and was quite relieved thinking that we would hold these babies and not the tiger cubs ;). And smitten.
I called Emma and Everly over from the swings and they were in love too and spent quite some time debating whether they would prefer to hold a baby lion, baby tiger or baby bear!
Yes, that's right - I said baby bear! Look at that baby black bear on the right! It was an itty bitty thing.
We loved these new to us animals - and watched them for quite some time. Their ears definitely remind us of Grandma's pup - Jubal.

So much freedom for my two little explorers!! And yes, Emma is reading a map - always trying to point us in the right direction ;).
We happened upon the tiger show! Aren't these some magnificent animals - it is hard to believe that the babies we held are going to grow up into this!!

Everly is obsessed with any statue/fake animal type thing she sees - similar to her love of stuffed animals :).
I have so many pictures, the animals were so active - we enjoyed seeing the monkey's swing along their ladder.
We happened upon the part of the park where you could take a ride on a camel - so we paid our money and hopped on!
Emma was pretty thrilled the entire time we were riding!
I am not sure if the camel scared Ev's, but when it was her turn - she picked a horse! I thought she would be able to ride by herself, but nope - mom or dad had to ride too.
But that's ok, I really enjoy seeing how these kinds of things make my kiddo's so happy!
We spent a lot of time on this trip perfecting our peace sign :).

p.s. most of the time, I think Everly is the spitting image of me, but actually here I see Emma :).
We kept walking to find the 'lollies! You could feed them, but we were about half an hour too early so we moved on...

Here she is again with another fake animal - like she actually stands there and demands that we take her picture.
We saw panda's! They are everywhere in China - not nearly as many as in Chengdu, but still fun to see!

We said hi to the giraffe's.
I think the kangaroo's were my personal favorite (other than the baby animals) because just look at how many there were and look at how much space they had to run and play!!
They might have been Evsie's favorite too (minus all of the fake animals) - she was busy counting them.
And declared that there were five ;).
And we got a real treat when this one came right over to see us!!
And then it was time to make our way back to the baby animals. We covered a little more than half the park and could have stayed longer we were having so much fun, but the baby animals and then work called our name. Sister love :).
We had snacks, played on the playground and climbed on daddy while we waited for the time to hold the baby tigers!
And just like that it was time, and we were over the moon obsessed with our newest friend ;).
