After our trip to Coal Hill Park, we hopped in a taxi and headed to Wangfujing Street (little did we know, we booked our hotel on one of the most famous streets in Beijing).
This portion of the street, about a block of our hotel, is blocked off to car traffic and is filled with shops, a mall, restaurants and a little narrow alley that is all that is left of the Beijing Night Market atmosphere (they shut down the Beijing Night Market earlier in the summer).
Yes, I am still carrying Emma at this point.
Scorpions or seahorses for dinner, anyone?
They were watching someone eat a scorpion!
The girls wanted to get out of there as soon as possible (the smells were outrageous and not in a good way), but they settled on sharing a candied strawberry stick before completely leaving.
Dusk in Beijing!
We headed to the mall for dinner and after dinner got a treat at Dunkin Donuts (couldn't believe we found one and it tasted just like home!). We were all pretty excited about that!
We walked home and literally collapsed into bed when we got back, exhausted but thoroughly grateful for our first, quite adventurous day in Beijing!
Wow - the street looks like lots of fun. Too bad you can't include a scent file so we could download and smell the market smells!
